Alaskan Volcano Watch
I haven’t heard much about this on the news and it’s not strictly astronomical, but noteworthy none-the-less. A volcanic eruption can disturb the Earth’s magnetic field enough to create an aurora (as can a large earthquake), so it’s a wee bit astronomical.
In any case, the Cook Inlet region of Alaska is on alert because of the threat of a volcanic eruption. The volcano Redoubt is showing signs of activity. There are a few towns in the area including Anchorage about 175 km to the Northeast click here for a map of the area from Alaska Volcano Observatory.
Here’s the alert from the Alaska Volcano Observatory:
Seismicity remains relatively unchanged since 3:30 PM AKST yesterday afternoon. it is still well above background.
AVO continues to observe potential activity with seismic, satellite and radar data. The volcano has not erupted.
An AVO observation flight yesterday afternoon reported no sign of ash emission, but observed significant steaming from a new melt depression at the mouth of the summit crater near the vent area of the 1989-90 eruption.
The Aviation Color Code remains at ORANGE and the Volcano Alert Level remains at WATCH.

Here are a couple of links to the AVO:
The main site (the server is quite busy) so you might try the Redoubt site as an alternative.
There is another webcam called Redoubt -CI, refresh or click the image above for the latest, I am not sure what the refresh time is though. I do have it hot linked for now, but if they contact me and ask that I not, you will need to go to one of the sites above.
You can also follow the updates on Twitter.
