I Remember

Being on Fire/Rescue (I did rescue) for 15 years I wanted to remember those who gave their lives trying to help others on that day.

I am remembering my uncle, who was a police officer for over 20 years with the NYPD. I He died trying to get people out of the North Tower. He is missed every day. May we never forget.

Somebody said (more elegantly than this) that the rescue people are the ones running towards what everyone else is running away screaming from. My hat is off to those with that courage and dedication.

THAT PICTURE IS THE MOST INSPIRING, BEAUTIFUL, AND QUIETLY SERENE, OF THAT TERRIBLE DAY, THAT I HAVE SEEN. THIS SHOULD BE CHOSEN AS THE OFFICIAL PICTURE OF THAT DAY. IT SAYS IT ALL FOR THE COURAGE OF THE INNOCENT ONES WHO FELL VICTIM OF TERRORISTS; AND, OF THE BRAVE ONES WHOSE ONLY THOUGHTS WERE OF RESCUING OTHERS BEFORE THINKING ABOUT THEIR OWN LIVES; AND, OF EVERY AMERICAN WHOSE LIVES WERE FOREVER CHANGED. ALL OF AMERICA LOST PRECIOUS ONES THAT DAY, EVEN IF THAT LOSS WAS’NT A RELATIVE OR FRIEND. THIS PICTURE SHOWS THAT WE WILL NEVER FORGET THE HEROISM THAT IS THE BASE THAT OUR COUNTRY WAS FOUNDED ON AND IS STILL AS STRONG, IF NOT STRONGER, THAN EVER. PLEASE, DO WHAT EVER IT TAKES TO GET THIS PICTURE TO WHERE IT CAN BE RECOGNIZED AND MADE OFFICIAL – MAYBE IT ALREADY IS – I DON’T KNOW, IT’S THE FIRST TIME I HAVE SEEN IT, AND AM DEEPLY MOVED BY IT. I AM PRINTING AND KEEPING IT IN A FRAME WITH PICTURES OF MY FAMILY!!! (HOPE THAT IS OK WITH YOU???? THANK YOU FOR THE BITTERSWEET GIFT.
